Ten Fifty One Therapy

I’m Chantal and welcome to Ten Fifty One Therapy.

I specialise in supporting people navigating the emotional and psychological impact of physical health conditions and the experiences that often follow, such as:

  • Loss of identity

  • Living with uncertainty

  • Grief, adjustment and loss

  • Changes to relationships

I understand – personally and professionally – how illness, trauma or a life-changing diagnosis can shake our sense of safety, both in our own bodies and in the world around us. Because these experiences rarely affect just one person, I also support partners, parents, family members and friends as they navigate the impact on their own lives.

I am a BACP-accredited Psychotherapist and BABCP-accredited CBT Therapist with over 10 years' experience. I offer a collaborative approach, bringing warmth, attentiveness and compassionate curiosity to our work together.

I am a coffee-drinking, TV-watching, dog-loving Psychotherapist and CBT Therapist. My passion and expertise lie in the relationship between physical and mental health, supporting people with physical health issues navigate anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship and identity shifts when life no longer looks as expected.

This might be you, or you may be the partner, parent, family member or friend feeling the ‘ripple effect’ of a loved one’s experience. Examples might be:

  • Living with a chronic health condition

  • An event leading to life-altering injuries

  • The menopause transition

  • A cancer diagnosis

I offer a space for exploration, understanding and support to make new or different choices if that is what feels right for you. But I won’t just sit there and silently nod – we’ll work together! Our relationship (the ‘therapeutic relationship’) is one of the biggest gateways to change. Cultivating this with kindness, curiosity and gentle challenge is of real importance to me.

I work affirmatively with people from racially minoritised and neurodivergent communities, as well as those of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and relationship structures. Providing an inclusive, expansive and respectful therapeutic space is fundamental to the way I work.

You are welcome to get in touch to organise a free 30-minute consultation to talk more about what you would like to get out of therapy and whether we could be a good fit.

About me

Qualifications and experience

I have over 10 years’ experience working in both the NHS and the charity sector across a range of psychological services, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

I currently work in the NHS as a High Intensity CBT Therapist and Clinical Supervisor. I treat depression and anxiety disorders such as PTSD, phobias and health anxiety. I am the Menopause Champion in this role and have specialist training in adapting CBT interventions for perimenopause/menopause symptoms (as per NICE Guidelines) – I deliver training to fellow clinicians on this too. I am also on the Advisory Committee for the UK’s first large-scale study exploring the psychological, sexual and social impact of conflict-related genital injuries on military veterans and their partners.

Whilst I have worked extensively with a variety of physical health issues, I have specialised knowledge in the following areas:

  • Menopause (surgical, medical and spontaneous/‘natural’ menopause and POI)

  • Cancer

  • Coping with visible difference or an altered appearance (from birth or after illness/injury)

  • Amputation

  • Medical trauma

  • Phobias impacting medical care (e.g. fear of vomiting, needles, PICC lines/port insertions)

  • Diabetes

  • Cystic Fibrosis

  • Neurological conditions

  • HIV

  • Sexual health and wellbeing

  • Living with a life-limiting condition

My approach is pluralistic, which means that I believe no single therapeutic method ‘fits all’. I will always tailor therapy to meet the needs and preferences of the person in front of me. As an accredited Psychotherapist and CBT Therapist, I am trained in a variety of modalities (predominately Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies).

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Dip.Couns – CPCAB)

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Interventions (PGCert – UCL)

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (PGDip – University of Birmingham)

  • Clinical Supervision (University of Birmingham)

  • Accredited member of BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy)

  • Accredited member of BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies)

  • Specialist training in Complex PTSD, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focussed Therapy (CFT) for long-term health conditions and adapting CBT for perimenopause/menopause symptoms
